• 225 g (1/2 lb) finely minced beef
• 1/4 egg, beaten
• salt and pepper
• 225-350 g (1/2-3/4 lb) fresh spinach, or lettuce
• 1.25 liters (2 1/2 pints) stock
• 1 chicken or beef stock cube
