Chinese Recipes – Sweet and Aromatic Pork Recipe
Ingredients
- 450-550 g (1-1 1/4 lb) belly of pork
- 2 eggs
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) corn flour
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) sesame seeds
- 37 ml (2 1/2 tablespoons), brown sugar (blended in 90 ml (6 tablespoons) water)
- vegetable oil for semi-deep-frying (about 125 ml/1/4 pint)

Method:

Bring the pork to the boil, in a large panful of water, and simmer gently for 1 hour. Drain the meat and cut it into very thin medium sized slices. Beat the egg and corn flour together into a batter and coat the pork slices with ft.

Stir the sesame seeds in a dry frying pan over medium heat, until brown and aromatic. Remove from the heat.

Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Lower the pork slices, piece by piece, to ‘shallow-fry’ (frying without stirring) for 3 minutes on either side over medium heat. Drain away all the oil, and sprinkle the pork with sugar water.

Remove and arrange the pork slices on a well-heated serving dish. Sprinkle them with roasted sesame seeds, serve hot.
