Chinese Desserts, Cakes and Confectionery Recipes - Glazed Chestnuts Recipe

Ingredients

  • 450g/1lb chestnuts

  • 450g/1lb sugar

  • 250g/3/4 cup honey


Method:

  1. Soak the chestnuts in water to cover. Drain, shell and pat dry.

  2. Mix the sugar and honey and cook over a low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture forms a syrup.

  3. Add the chestnuts, stir well, cover and simmer very gently for about 2 hours until tender, stirring frequently.

  4. Arrange the chestnuts separately on a greased serving plate and leave to cool before serving.
