Chinese Desserts, Cakes and Confectionery Recipes - Sesame Seeds Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients

  • 45ml/3 tbsp sesame seeds

  • 120ml/1/2 cup peanut oil

  • 225g/1 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 450g/1lb plain (all-purpose) flour

  • 5ml/1 tsp baking powder

  • pinch of salt

  • 5ml/1 tsp grated nutmeg


Method:

  1. Heat a pan and gently toast the sesame seeds until lightly browned.

  2. Beat together the oil and sugar the blend in the egg and most of the sesame seeds.

  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg and gradually blend it into the mixture.

  4. Knead well, adding a little water if necessary to make a fir dough, then chill for 2 hours.

  5. Roll out the dough and use a pastry cuter to cut into about 35 biscuits.

  6. Sprinkle with the remaining sesame seeds and pres them in lightly.

  7. Bake on a greased baking tray in a preheated oven at 180C/350F/gas mark 4 for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
