Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Baked Onions Recipe
Ingredients

8 large onions
-
salt and freshly ground pepper
-
30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup water
-
15 ml/1 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)

15 ml/1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Method:

Put the onions in a pan and just cover with boiling
salted water. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes then
drain.

Arrange the onions in an ovenproof dish,
season with salt and pepper and brush with oil.

Pour
in the water, cover and bake in a preheated oven at
190C/375 F/gas mark 5 for 1 hour.

Blend the corn flour with a little water and stir it into the
onion liquid.

Bake for a further 5 minutes, stirring
occasionally, until the sauce thickens. Serve
garnished with parsley.
