Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Bamboo Shoots in Oyster Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 350 g/12 oz bamboo shoots, cut into strips

  • 250 ml/8 fl oz/1 cup chicken stock

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 5 ml/1 tsp soy sauce

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp brown sugar

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp sesame oil


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the bamboo shoots for 1 minute.

  2. Add the stock, Cook the bean sprouts in boiling water for about 10 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain well.

  3. Meanwhile, heat the oil and stir-fry the bamboo shoots for about minutes until tender but still crisp.

  4. Sprinkle with salt, mix well then arrange with the bean sprouts on a warmed serving plate. Sprinkle with sesame oil and serve.
