Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Creamed Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • 450 g/1lb Chinese cabbage

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 250 ml/8 fl /1 cup chicken stock

  • salt

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)

  • 50 g/2 oz smoked ham, diced


Method:

  1. Cut the cabbage into 5 cm/2 in strips. Heat the oil and stir-fry the cabbage for 3 minutes.

  2. Add the stock and season with salt. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 4 minutes.

  3. Mix the corn flour with a little water, stir it into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens.

  4. Transfer to a warmed serving plate and serve sprinkle with ham.
