Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Deep-Fried Bamboo Shoots Recipe

Ingredients

  • oil for deep-frying

  • 125 g/8 oz bamboo shoots, cut into strips

  • 15ml/1 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 15ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 10 mll2 tsp corn flour (cornstarch)

  • 90 ml/6 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and deep-fry the bamboo shoots until golden. Drain well.

  2. Heat the groundnut (peanut) oil and stir-fry the bamboo shoots until coated with oil.

  3. Mix together the sugar, soy sauce, corn flour and water, stir into the pan and stir-fry until heated through.
