Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Shallots in Malt Beer Recipe
Ingredients

15 ml/1 tbsp walnut oil
-
450 g/1lb shallots
-
10 ml/2 tsp brown sugar
-
5 ml/1 tsp red peppercorns
-
250 ml/1 cup malt beer
-
45 ml/3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
-
salt and freshly ground pepper
-
2.5 ml/1/2 tsp paprika
-
1 lamb's lettuce
Method:

Heat the oil and fry the shallots until golden
brown. Add the sugar and stir-fry until translucent.

Add the peppercorns, beer and balsamic vinegar and
simmer for 1 minute. Season with salt, pepper and
paprika.
-
Arrange the lettuce leaves around the edge
of a warmed serving plate and spoon the shallots
into the centre.
