Chinese Vegetables Recipes - Sweet and Sour Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 1 head cabbage, shredded

  • 5ml/1 tsp salt

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp wine vinegar

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp sugar

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the cabbage for 3 minutes. Add the salt and continue to stir-fry until the cabbage is just tender.

  2. Blend the wine vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, corn flour and water to a paste, add it to the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce coats the cabbage.
