Chinese Appetizers Recipes - Braised Bamboo Shoots Recipe

Ingredients

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 225 g/8 oz bamboo shoots, cut into strips

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp chicken stock

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 5 ml/1 tsp sugar

  • 5 ml/1 tsp rice wine or dry sherry


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the bamboo shoots for 3 minutes.

  2. Mix the stock, soy sauce, sugar and wine or sherry and add it to the pan. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

  3. Leave to cool and chill before serving.
