Chinese Beef Recipes - Beef with Bamboo Shoots Recipe

Ingredients

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

  • 1 spring onion (scallion), chopped

  • 1 slice ginger root, minced

  • 225 g/8 oz lean beef, cut into strips

  • 100 g/4 oz bamboo shoots

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 5 ml/1 tsp corn-flour (cornstarch)


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the garlic, spring onion and ginger until lightly browned.

  2. Add the beef and stir-fry for 4 minutes until lightly browned. Add the bamboo shoots and stir-fry for 3 minutes.

  3. Add the soy sauce, wine or sherry and corn-flour and stir-fry for 4 minutes.
