Chinese Beef Recipes - Beef with Chinese Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz lean beef

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 350 g/12 oz Chinese cabbage, shredded

  • 120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup beef stock

  • salt and freshly ground pepper

  • 10 ml/2 tsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 30 ml/1 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Heat the oil and stir-fry the beef until just browned.

  2. Add the Chinese cabbage and stir-fry until slightly softened. Add the stock, bring to the boil and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Cover and simmer for 4 minutes until the beef is tender. Mix the corn-four and water, stir it into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens.
