Chinese Beef Recipes - Beef with Ginger Recipe

Ingredients

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb lean beef, sliced

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 2 pieces crystallized ginger, thinly sliced

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 150 ml/2/3 cup water

  • 2 stalks celery, diagonally sliced

  • 5 ml/1 tsp salt


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the beef, onion and garlic until lightly browned.

  2. Add the ginger, soy sauce and water, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 25 minutes.

  3. Add the celery, cover and simmer for a further 5 minutes. Sprinkle with salt before serving.
