Chinese Beef Recipes - Beef and Peas Recipe

Ingredients

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb lean beef, cubed

  • 2 onions, sliced

  • 2 stalks celery, sliced

  • 100 g/4 oz fresh or frozen peas, thawed

  •  250 ml/1/2 cup chicken stock

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn-flour (cornstarch)


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the beef until lightly browned. Add the onions, celery and peas and stir-fry for 2 minutes.

  2. Add the stock and soy sauce, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. Mix the corn-flour with a little water and stir it into the sauce. Simmer, stirring, until the sauce clears and thickens.
