Chinese Beef Recipes - Beef in Red Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb minced (ground) beef

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 red pepper, chopped

  • 1 green pepper, chopped

  • 2 slices pineapple, chopped

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp dry white wine

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp wine vinegar

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp honey

  • 300 ml/1 1/4 cups beef stock

  • salt and freshly ground pepper

  • few drops of chili oil


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the beef until lightly browned. Add the vegetables and pineapple and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add the soy sauce, wine, wine vinegar, honey and stock.

  2. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes until cooked. Season to taste with salt, pepper and chili oil.
