Chinese Beef Recipes - Red-Cooked Beef with Ginger Recipe

Ingredients

  • 450 g/1lb lean beef

  • 2 slices ginger root, minced

  • 4 spring onions (scallions) chopped

  • 120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 400 ml/14 fl oz/1 3/4 cups water

  • 15ml/1 tbsp brown sugar


Method:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a heavy pan, bring to the boil, cover and simmer, turning occasionally, for about 1 hour until the beef is tender.
