Ingredients

450 g/1lb lean beef

2 slices ginger root,
minced
-
4 spring onions (scallions)
chopped
-
120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup soy
sauce
-
60 ml/4 tbsp rice wine or
dry sherry

400 ml/14 fl oz/1 3/4 cups
water
-
15ml/1 tbsp brown sugar
Method:
-
Place all the ingredients in a heavy pan, bring to
the boil, cover and simmer, turning occasionally,
for about 1 hour until the beef is tender.
