Chinese Beef Recipes - Shredded Beef Recipe

Ingredients

  • 750 g/1 1/2 lb lean beef, cubed

  • 250 ml/8 fl oz/1 cup beef stock

  • 120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil


Method:

  1. Place the beef, stock, soy sauce and wine or sherry in a heavy-based pan.

  2. Bring to the boil and boil, stirring, until the liquid evaporated. Leave to cool then chill.

  3. Shred the beef with two forks. Heat the oil then add the beef and stir-fry quickly until coated with oil.

  4. Continue to cook over a medium heat until the beef dries out completely. Leave to cool and serve with noodles or rice.
