Chinese Beef Recipes - Shredded Spiced Beef Recipe

Ingredients

  • 90 ml/6 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb lean beef, cut into strips

  • 50 g/2 oz chili bean paste

  • freshly ground pepper

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp minced ginger root

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 225 g/8 oz celery. cut into chunks

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 5 ml/1 tsp sugar

  • 5 ml/1 tsp wine vinegar


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the beef until browned. Add the chili bean paste and pepper and stir-fry for 3 minutes.

  2. Add the ginger, wine or sherry and celery and stir well together. Add the soy sauce, sugar and vinegar and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
