Chinese Chicken Recipes - Five-Spice Chicken with Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb chicken, cut into chunks

  • salt

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp yellow bean paste

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 5 ml/1 tsp sugar

  • 5 ml/1 tsp five-spice powder

  • 1 potato, diced

  • 450 ml/3/4 pt/2 cups chicken stock


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the chicken until lightly browned.

  2. Sprinkle with salt then stir in the bean paste, soy sauce, sugar and five-spice powder and stir-fry for 1 minute.

  3. Add the potato and stir in well then add the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes until tender.
