Chinese Lamp Recipes - Lamb with Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb lamb, thinly sliced

  • salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

  • 450 g/1lb Chinese cabbage, shredded

  • 120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup stock

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the lamb, salt, pepper and garlic until lightly browned.

  2. Add the cabbage and stir until coated with oil. Add the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. Mix the corn-flour, soy sauce and water to a paste, stir into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce clears and thickens.
