Chinese Pork and Ham Recipes - Five-Spice Pork Recipe

Ingredients

  • 225 g/8 oz lean pork

  • 5 ml/1 tsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp five-spice powder

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp salt

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 20 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 120 ml/4 fl oz/1/2 cup chicken stock


Method:

  1. Slice the pork thinly against the grain. Mix the pork with the corn-flour, five-spice powder, salt and wine or sherry and stir well to coat the pork.

  2. Leave to stand for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Heat the oil, add the pork and stir-fry for about 3 minutes.

  3. Add the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 3 minutes. Serve immediately.
