Chinese Pork and Ham Recipes - Pork with Cabbage and Tomatoes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1lb lean pork, cut into slivers

  • salt and freshly ground pepper

  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 cabbage, shredded

  • 450 g/1lb tomatoes, skinned and quartered

  • 250 ml/1 cup stock

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the pork, salt, pepper, garlic and onion until lightly browned.

  2. Add the cabbage, tomatoes and stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 10 minutes until the cabbage is just tender.

  3. Blend the corn-flour, soy sauce and water to a paste, stir into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce clears and thickens.
