Chinese Pork and Ham Recipes - Pork with Prawns  Recipe

Ingredients

  • 900 g/2lb lean pork

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 spring onion (scallion), chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 50 g/2 oz peeled prawns, minced (ground)

  • 600 ml/2 1/2 cups boiling water

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp sugar


Method:

  1. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil, add the pork, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

  2. Remove from the pan and drain well then cut into cubes. Heat the oil and fry the onion, spring onion and garlic until lightly browned.

  3. Add the pork and fry until lightly browned. Add the soy sauce and prawns and stir-fry for 1 minute.

  4. Add the boiling water and sugar, cover and simmer for about 40 minutes until the pork is tender.
