Chinese Pork and Ham Recipes - Pork with Tofu Recipe

Ingredients

  • 450 g/1lb lean pork

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

  • 225 g/8 oz tofu, cubed

  • 375 ml/13 fl oz chicken stock

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp salt


Method:

  1. Place the pork in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to the boil then simmer for 5 minutes. Drain and leave to cool then cut into cubes.

  2. Heat the oil and fry the onion and garlic until lightly browned. Add the pork and fry until lightly browned. Add the tofu and stir gently until coated with oil.

  3. Add the stock, sugar, soy sauce and salt, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about 40 minutes until the pork is tender.
