Chinese Pork and Ham Recipes - Pork with Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 5 ml/1 tsp salt

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 225 g/8 oz broccoli florets

  • 200 g/7 oz cauliflower florets

  • 1 red pepper, diced

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 oranges, peeled and diced

  • 1 piece stem ginger, chopped

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 300 ml/1 1/4 cups water

  • 20 ml/2 tbsp wine vinegar

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp honey

  • pinch of ground ginger

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp cumin


Method:

  1. Crush the garlic, salt and pepper into the meat. Heat the oil and stir-fry for meat until lightly browned. Remove from the pan.

  2. Add the soy sauce and vegetables to the pan and stir-fry until tender but still crisp. Add the oranges and ginger.

  3. Mix the corn-flour and water and stir it into the pan with the wine vinegar, honey, ginger and cumin.

  4. Bring to the boil and simmer, stirring, for 2 minutes. Return the pork to the pan and heat through before serving.
