Chinese Seafood Recipes - Chinese Tuna Recipe

Ingredients

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 200 g/7 oz canned tuna, drained and flaked

  • 2 stalks celery, chopped

  • 100 g/4 oz mushrooms, chopped

  • 1 green pepper, chopped

  • 250 ml/8 fl oz/1 cup stock

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 100 g/4 oz fine egg noodles

  • salt

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 45 ml/3 tbsp water


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the onion until softened. Add the tuna and stir until well coated with oil.

  2. Add the celery, mushrooms and pepper and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add the stock and soy sauce, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, cook the noodles in boiling salt water for about 5 minutes until just tender then drain well and arrange on a warmed serving plate.

  4. Mix the corn-flour and water, stir the mixture into the tuna sauce and simmer, stirring, until the sauce clears and thickens.
