Chinese Seafood Recipes - Deep-Fried Squid Recipe

Ingredients

  • 50 g/2 oz plain (all-purpose) flour

  • 25 g/1 oz/1/4 cup corn-flour (cornstarch)

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 egg

  • 75 ml/5 tbsp water

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 450 g/1 lb squid, cut into rings

  • oil for deep-frying


Method:

  1. Beat the flour, corn-flour, baking powder, salt, egg, water and oil together to make a batter.

  2. Dip the squid in the batter until well coated. Heat the oil and deep-fry the squid a few pieces at a time until golden brown.

  3. Drain on kitchen paper before serving.
