Chinese Seafood Recipes - Five-Spice Fish Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cod fillets

  • 5 ml/1 tsp five-spice powder

  • 5 ml/1 tsp salt

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 2.5 ml/1/2 in root ginger, minced

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp rice wine or dry sherry

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp soy sauce

  • few drops of sesame oil


Method:

  1. Rub the fish with the five-spice powder and salt. Heat the oil and fry the fish until lightly browned on both sides.

  2. Remove from the pan and add the remaining ingredients. Heat through, stirring, then return the fish to the pan and reheat gently before serving.
