Ingredients

60ml/4 tbsp peanut oil
-
100g/4oz lean pork, cut
into strops
-
225g/8oz canned abalone,
cut into strips
-
100g/4oz mushrooms, sliced
-
2 stalks celery, sliced
-
50g/2oz ham, cut into
strips
-
2 onions, sliced
-
1.5ml/6 cups water
-
30ml/2 tbsp wine vinegar
-
45ml/3 tbsp soy sauce
-
2 slices ginger root,
chopped
-
salt and freshly ground
pepper
-
15ml/1 tbsp corn-flour
(cornstarch)

45ml/3 tbsp water
Method:
-
Heat the oil and
fry the pork, abalone, mushrooms, celery, ham and
onions for 8 minutes.

Add the water and
wine vinegar, bring to the boil, cover and simmer
for 20 minutes. Add the soy sauce, ginger, salt and
pepper.

Blend the
corn-flour to paste with the water, stir it into the
soup and simmer, stirring, for 5 minutes until the
soup clears and thickens.
