Low Fat Recipes - Beef With Hot Bean Sauce

Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb (225g) beef fillet, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp (15ml) dry sherry

  • 0.25 cup (60ml) beef consommé

  • 1 tsp (5ml) chopped garlic

  • 1 tbsp (15ml) hot bean sauce

  • 1 large onion, cut into eights

  • 2 tsp (10ml) cornstarch

  • 1 tsp (5ml) salt-reduced soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable stock or water


Method:

  1. Combine sliced beef and sherry. Heat a non-stick pan, add beef and stir-fry 2 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.

  2. Reheat pan, add consommé, garlic, hot bean sauce and onion, and simmer covered 2 minutes.

  3. Return beef to pan. Blend cornstarch with soy sauce and tock. Stir in to thicken and serve at once.
