Chinese Rice Recipes - Creamy Soupy Rice Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 pint (U.S. 5/8 cup) rich strong chicken stock

  • 1 chicken stock cube

  • 1 tablespoon raw pig's kidney

  • 1 tablespoon raw pig's heart

  • 1 tablespoon raw pig's liver

  • 1 tablespoon raw lean pork

  • 3 oz. raw rice

  • 2 pints (U.S. 5 cups) water

  • tiny pinch pepper

  • salt to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon Ve-Tsin (M.S.G.)

  • 1 dessertspoon sesame or peanut oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon corn-flour

  • 1 tablespoon water

  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped green from spring onion


Method:

  1. Wash the rice. Cut the meats into very thin strips and keep them separate. Boil the rice in the water for a few minutes. Add the stock, strengthened with the chicken stock cube.

  2. Add the meats separately so that they do not mix, then add the seasonings and oil.

  3. Cook gently for a further 10 minutes. Blend the corn-flour with the water, stir it in and boil for 1 1/2 minutes.

  4. Top with the green of the onion. This is a kind of rich rice gruel with meats.
