Chinese Seafood Recipes - Awabi and Chinese Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. canned awabi

  • 3 oz. Chinese mushrooms

  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil

  • 1 roughly cut up medium-sized onion

  • 1 teaspoon ginger sherry

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1/4 pint (U.S.5/8 cup) chicken stock pinch sugar

  • pinch Ve-Tsin (M.S.G.)

  • small pinch salt

  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon corn-flour

  • 1 dessertspoon water


Method:

  1. Cut the awabi into thin slices. Drain and dry the mushrooms (stems removed), leaving them whole.

  2. Heat the oil and fry the onion in it for 1-1 1/2 minutes. Add the awabi and mushrooms and then the next 7 ingredients. Cook for 2 minutes.

  3. Stir the corn-flour, blended with the water, into the mixture and boil for 1 1/2-2 minutes. Turn into a heated dish and serve.
