Chinese Marinades and Condiments Recipes - Five-Spice Marinade Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp soy sauce

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 5 ml/1 tsp five-spice powder

  • 5 ml/1 tsp salt

  • 5 ml/1 tsp sugar

  • freshly ground pepper


Method:

  1. Mix together the ingredients rub the mixture over chicken, inside and out.

  2. Leave to stand for 1 hour, basting occasionally, then drain and cook. Baste with the marinade while cooking.
