Chinese Sauces Recipes - Ham Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp groundnut (peanut) oil

  • 2 stalks celery, chopped

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 100 g/4 oz ham, chopped

  • 250 ml/8 fl oz/1 cup chicken stock

  • 5 ml/1 tsp corn flour (cornstarch)

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp water

  • 1 egg beaten


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the celery, onion and ham and stir-fry for 2 minutes.

  2. Add the stock, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 3 minutes.

  3. Mix the corn flour and water to a paste then blend in the egg.

  4. Pour into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Pour over the noodles to serve.
