Chinese Sauces Recipes - Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250ml/1 cup water

  • 100g/1/2 cup sugar

  • 120ml/1/2 cup wine vinegar

  • 30ml/2 tbsp tomato puree

  • 15ml/1 tbsp corn flour

  • 15ml/1 tbsp soy sauce


Method:

  1. Bring three-quarters of the water to the boil. Stir in the sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the wine vinegar and stir for 1 minute.

  2. Mix the remaining water with the tomato puree, corn flour and soy sauce, stir into the pan and simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens.
